Jonathan E. Kaplan is a strategic communications strategist, writer, and storyteller.

Now the founder of Write Cadence strategies, an advisory firm that works with individuals and organizations to use their voice inside Washington to change law and policy.

He previously led communications in the Washington office of the Open Society Foundations and served as a senior advisor in the US Department of State. As a former journalist, he’s covered Congress and his writing has been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Foreign Policy.

He’s the author of RIDING WITH, a Substack newsletter about cycling and media, business, and culture.

Jonathan received his BA from Colby College and an MA in public policy from the University of Chicago. He was a collegiate swimmer and completed the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon.
